WE CAN TURN YOUR FROWN UPSIDE DOWN
At Beyoo Aesthetics we offer effective Botulinum toxin and dermal filler treatments to improve concerns such as lines, wrinkles and folds around the mouth and lip area.
The ageing problems around the mouth area include:
- Smoker or lipstick bleeding lines & wrinkles around the lip area
- Drooping mouth corners
- Marionette lines (lines that come down from the mouth corner towards the chin)
- Nose to mouth lines (Nasolabial folds)
- Lines and wrinkles at lower the cheek and chin area
Botulinum toxin: Small areas such as smoking lines around the mouth or drooping mouth corner treatments can be treated with Botulinum toxin.
Dermal filler: This can be used to replace volume lost in the area, plumping the skin and lifting folds.
With all Botulinum toxin treatments a medical consultation appointment is required to discuss your suitability for treatment
Dermal filler injections: The treatment involves the injection of filler to plump up and fill the lines or folds. This treatment is very effective for static lines and folds around the lips, cheeks, nose to mouth folds, marionette lines and mouth corner lifting
Botulinum toxin injections: This can reduce the movement of the muscles around the lip which causes smoking lines and the muscle that excessively pulls the mouth corner downward. Therefore, it helps improve smoker lines and a drooping mouth corner
During your consultation, Victoria will carefully examine and advise you the best treatment options for you individually.
Botulinum toxin is a protein produced by the the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. It relaxes muscles by temporarily blocking nerve impulses to the injected muscles. This reduces muscle activity that causes lines and wrinkles. The cosmetic effect of Botulinum toxin was first documented as early as 1989 and was approved by the FDA in 2002. It is now regularly used by many, both male and female, as it is less intrusive and less artificial in appearance than the traditional form of treatment such as plastic surgery
The most common dermal filler used for the mouth area is Hyaluronic acid.
Hyaluronic acid is one of nature’s most versatile and fascinating substances. It is found throughout the body as well as in most other living organisms. It has many functions, for example, giving the skin elasticity, providing our skin with volume and also giving it a youthful appearance. Dermal fillers consist of sterile gels consisting of non-animal, cross-linked, hyaluronic acid (HA) and are created in a laboratory. They contain no human or animal DNA and have the best safety profile of all the fillers currently on the market as it is the only type of filler that is reversible.
The products used at Beyoo Aesthetics are FDA approved and have a proven safety record, these include Juvederm, Restylane and Belotero.
PRIOR THE TREATMENT :
Topical anaesthetic will be applied for 15-30 minutes prior the treatment for additional comfort
THE PROCEDURE :
The dermal filler is injected in precise locations into the skin. The doctor will then massage to smooth the product. During the procedure, you are fully awake and will be given a mirror to hold to enable you to see the results
POST TREATMENT :
You should avoid touching or applying make up on the treated area for 6 hours in order to prevent infection. The results are immediate and last from 6-12 months. As the results are relatively temporary, adjustments can be made as your face changes over time to ensure you always retain a natural look. Specific post treatment instructions will be given during your visit.
BEFORE THE TREATMENT :
A full medical consultation with Victoria will determine whether you are a suitable candidate for the treatment. Victoria will examine your ability to move certain muscles to determine location, size and use of the muscles that create your wrinkles. Then, the treatment goal will be discussed and finalised and a customised treatment plan will be created for you
THE TREATMENT :
No anaesthesia is required. However, Victoria may choose to numb the area with a cold pack or anaesthetic cream. Discomfort is usually minimal and brief. A few tiny injections will be administered directly into the muscles that causes the lines. The treatment will take approximately 15 minutes to complete
AFTER THE TREATMENT :
Avoid touching, rubbing or applying makeup on the treated areas for 4 hours. Excessive exercise should also be avoided for 24 hours post treatment. The procedure will take around 15 minutes to complete. Specific aftercare instructions will be given to you on the day of your treatment.
During your consultation, Victoria will assess your medical history and make sure you are suitable for the treatment.
Ensure to tell the Victoria about all of your medical conditions, including:
- A disease that affects your muscles and nerves such as Myastenia gravis or Lambert-Eaton syndrome
- Allergies to any Botulinum toxin products
- Medication that you are currently taking
- Whether you have had any facial surgery or plan to have surgery
- If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant or breastfeeding
We would not use Dermal Filler if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
You may have swelling and bruising for 24-72 hours, especially with injections in the lips. It is recommended to avoid planning social events for 48 hours. Swelling and bruising, in some cases. can take up to 14 days to settle.
After the treatment some common injection-related reactions might occur, such as swelling, redness, pain, itching, discoloration and tenderness at the injection site. These typically resolve spontaneously within 2 to 10 days
If you’ve previously had cold sores around the mouth (facial herpes simplex) , the treatment might provoke an outbreak. Be sure you have a supply of the oral tablets (prescription) such as acyclovir. Victoria can advise you on this and give you a prescription if needed.
There are some other very rare complications that can happen. Victoria will discuss these with you within your consultation.
Stop taking vitamin E, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Omega 3/Fish Oil supplements and Ibuprofen for a few days before the treatment. This is because these tablets thin your blood slightly which can increase the risk of bruising and swelling.
If you take Aspirin, Clopidogrel, Warfarin or any other type of blood thinner please get in touch with Victoria as it could be dangerous for you to stop without medical advice.
Don’t drink alcohol for 24 hours before or after your treatment, as alcohol can also thin your blood which increases the chance of bruising and swelling.
Avoid any strenuous exercise or excessively hot showers or baths for 24 hours after the treatment, because the heat can force your blood to pump round your body faster which can make bruising and swelling worse.
You can help to reduce the bruising and swelling after injections bu applying an ice pack (wrapped in a clean cloth) to the area every few hours.
After the treatment Victoria will give you a pot of arnica to take home with you, this will help with any bruising or swelling. You can apply it hourly with freshly washed hands.
To help to prevent swelling, an anti-histamine tablet can be taken before your treatment along with a paracetamol (if you are not allergic or sensitive to either). We also recommend taking a daily anti-histamine for a few days after the injections to help settle any swelling.
Avoid applying make up for at least 12 hours to prevent infection, also make sure hands are clean prior to touching the area.
Schedule your appointment at least 2 weeks prior to any special event which you may be attending, such as a wedding or a holiday to allow any bruising and swelling to settle.
Please let your Victoria know if you suffer from cold sores prior to the treatment as I may prescribe an anti-viral medication prior to the procedure.
If the injection site maybe uncomfortable for a few days, you can take regular paracetamol to help with the discomfort.
If you develop any pain that does not get better, or if you are concerned on any way please get in touch.
The Botulinum toxin results generally last 4-6 months whereas the dermal filler results last 6-12 months.
The longevity of these products is variable and each individual may obtain a different result. A plan for regular follow-up treatments to maintain the initial result can be created for you. Our treatment provides a long-lasting but not permanent result leaving you the option of refining your treatment in tune with changing taste and fashion
