When treating the under eye area, a treatment also known as tear trough filler, we use a specially formulated dermal filler for the delicate eye area, the filler is a unique combination of hyaluronic acid and a complex of vitamins and amino acids, so not only does the treatment smooth out the lines under the eyes, it also intensely hydrates, rejuvenating the skin around the eyes.
The procedure itself is pretty pain-free, we don't use needles under the eyes. We use something called a blunt tip cannula which makes the procedure much safer and reduces the chance of any bruising.
Thorough pre-treatment assessment is essential before tear trough filler - we will assess if your darkness is caused by pigmentation or if you have hollowing under the eye. If your darkness is caused by pigmentation then tear trough filler may not be for you, tear trough filler may also not be suitable if you have poor skin quality under the eye.
If your tear trough hollowing is caused by ageing, then we may also recommend some mid-face treatment to help support the tear trough area. Anti-wrinkle injections around the eye can complement tear trough treatment and really brighten the eyes.
As the tear trough is a delicate, unforgiving area, we always take a less is more approach. It may take more than one treatment to achieve the desired look, we can advise you on the amount of treatmentsthat may be needed during your consultation.
