We offer assistance with weight loss through our body confidence programme
Our body confidence programme is for people that are overweight or obese and that are serious about losing weight. We offer a comprehensive consultation to discuss you, your lifestyle and to assess if medically supported weight loss is suitable for you. During the consultation we will talk about the pro’s and con’s of medically supported weight loss and there will be plenty of time for us to answer all your questions. If you are on our body confidence programme then we recommend booking a weight loss review every 4 – 8 weeks.
FAQ's
The Body confidence programme is a combination of diet and exercise with the addition of a small injection pen that you administer at home. The injection pen helps to manage your appetite and it also activates certain pathways within the body that lead to weight loss. The medication is only successful as part of an overall programme.
Beyoo Aesthetics is a certified partner of The National Medical Weight Loss Programme and we are insured through Insync insurance.
Your weight loss journey starts with completing a medical screening questionnaire to ensure that you are a suitable candidate for this programme. Once this has been completed you will be able to book in for a virtual consultation with one of our nurses to discuss further and answer any questions.
During the consultation process it may be necessary to provide blood results from your GP or arrange a private blood test to ensure that it is safe for you to start on the programme.
After the consultation there will be no obligation to sign up, but there is a small fee for the initial consultation. We will still provide you with general information on health eating and exercise.
If you decide that medically supported weight loss is for you then we will formulate a bespoke programme designed specifically for you. As part of the programme, you will have regular review appointments and we are always around to support you in any way needed.
Your programme will be supervised by a qualified nurse. We offer a holistic approach throughout the process from initial discussions through to treatment and follow-up.
Everyone is different in their approach to maintaining their desired weight.
Some patients just use the medication as a ‘kick start’ to help them gain healthy habits towards healthy eating and exercise, and after a few months they are able to carry this on without the medication.
Other patients stay on the medication long-term, because they see it as the only way to keep where they want to be.
Others will be between these two scenarios. They may have positive changes but start over-eating again. They will sometimes utilise the medication again but have long periods without it too.
No fasting is not part of it, although fasting can help to control the hormone ghrelin (something you will learn about on the programme). We encourage our patients to try to eat three nutritionally balanced calorie-controlled meals per day or smaller meals with snacks. We will help you with your food choices to ensure they meet your calorie requirements.
Depending on how the medication affects you, sometimes we recommend having nutritional supplements and bars/shakes etc, to ensure you are getting the vitamins and minerals you should have to be healthy.
Apart from regaining self confidence and esteem, the benefits of a weight loss of just 5% of your weight are (according to NHS Study https://www.nhs.uk/better-health/lose-weight/) include:

- A reduction in cardiovascular risk factors.
- Improvements in blood lipid profile.
- Improvements in blood pressure.
- Improvements in osteoarthritic pain.
- Improvements in severity of obstructive sleep apnoea.
- Improvements in health-related quality of life.
As with any medication some people will experience side effects, they are normally short-lived and not everyone will have any of them. It is commonly reported that around 25% will feel nauseous, this can last from a couple of days to a week, we can reduce the side effects by adopting an initial induction period for the medication and this can be discussed at the consultation.
Side effects are normally experienced because the medicine is taking time to settle, but it’s also a good indication that it will really work for you as your body is very responsive to it.
Other side-effects reported include constipation and headache. It’s important to drink lots of water.
Furthermore, the following have been reported, but aren’t as common: low blood sugar, vomiting, diarrhoea, increased heart rate, tiredness and dizziness, tummy ache,
Yes, there are rules around your BMI. We will look at this on your health assessment and provide you with an answer on suitability. This is a treatment for people who are considered ‘overweight’ or ‘obese’.
Other people that aren’t suitable for the programme include:
- Being pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Having an allergy to the medicine.
- Having Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Syndrome.
- Having a family history of medullary thyroid cancer or other thyroid carcinomas.
- You may not have the medication if you are under 18 or over 75.
The cost is dependent on the agreed programme but it is usually around £235 per month for the “once weekly” pen.
You will pay a £50 deposit for the consultation and if you decide to proceed then this is deducted from your first month of treatment. If you decide not to go ahead then the £50 is used to offset the costs involved in the initial screening and consultation.
Before you commence the programme, it may be necessary to conduct some blood tests. If you have had these tests done recently at the GP then we may ask you to provide the results. If not, then we can either take your blood at our Lancaster clinic or you can arrange these through one of our home test providers(they may be around £70- £150).
As part of the programme, you will need some bathroom scales and ideally scales that will measure total body fat, as well as weight. You will need a measuring tape to monitor your waist measurement and it may also be helpful to have a blood pressure monitor. We can make recommendations on each of these if you so wish.
If you want to move to the next step and get your weight loss journey started, you can book straight in for a weight loss consultation, you will then be emailed the screening form.
